Tool TEN: Digital Citizenship
1. Discuss at least three things you would want to make sure your students understand about being good digital citizens. There should be no hazing online (blogs), students should understand copyright, to avoid plagarism, and students need to know how to look for good information, and avoid sites that aren't legit. 2. Share at least one of the resources mentioned above or on the Ed Tech website that you plan to use instructionally. I woudl use the Code of Best Practices. It seems to have the easiest info to understand. 3. Explain briefly how you would "teach" the idea of digital citizenship to your students. I would probably show things from the media that support the negatives and positives of the rules, so they would be tangible to the students. 4. Explain briefly how you plan to share the idea of digital citizenship with your parents. Directing parents to a user friendly website is probably the easiest way to reach them as well.
